EFCA One is our every-other year denominational conference. It is a major, national event for our movement, and all local church pastors, staff and leaders are invited to attend. In addition to the encouragement in gathering together as partners in the ministry of the gospel in the EFCA, there will also be numerous opportunities for corporate worship, times to be equipped through learning tracks, and affinity events.

This is also an historic conference in that we thank the Lord for President Bill Hamel for serving faithfully and fruitfully in this role since 1997 (1996 he served for one year as interim). As we thank the Lord we will also thank Bill and Karen for their years of ministry and pray a blessing on them as they transition into retirement. Although Bill will retire from this role, he will continue to serve the Lord and His church in some way.

We will also hear from Kevin Kompelien, our presidential nominee, and have the opportunity corporately to discern the mind and will of the Lord regarding his serving in this new role as president of the EFCA.

From the present we will look back and give thanks, and we will look ahead with hope, resting in the truth that God has been, is and will be faithful. At this historic time, may we as the EFCA recommit to what has been reflective of us from the beginning of our movement – the gospel of Jesus Christ!

For information about EFCA One, or to register, please do so at EFCA One. I trust many of you will be able to attend.

Greg Strand

Affectionately called “Walking Bible” by his youngest daughter, Greg Strand has a ministry history that goes back to 1982. Since that time, he has served in local church ministry in a variety of ministry capacities: youth pastor, associate pastor of adult ministries and senior pastor. He is currently the EFCA's Executive Director of Theology and Credentialing. Greg reads voraciously and never stops learning — a passion reflected in the overflowing bookshelves that spill from his library to multiple offices. And he could tell you about each of those books! His hunger for learning pales in contrast to his great love for God and for teaching the Word of God.
