The Doctrine of the Love of God: Does God Love the Sinner But Hate the Sin?

Collin Hansen discusses with Don Carson the doctrine of the love of God. In particular, they focus on the question often asked, Does God Love the Sinner but Hate the Sin?

This podcast is described briefly in the following way:

Christians so often use the phrase “Love the sinner, hate the sin” that you would think it comes straight from Scripture. But is it true of God? Should it be true of us?

Is God’s love for us unconditional? Does God love both the elect and the unelect in the same way? Listen as Carson sheds biblical light on these tough questions.

I encourage you to take 20 minutes to listen to this podcast. It is biblically faithful, theologically astute and pastorally insightful.

Affectionately called “Walking Bible” by his youngest daughter, Greg Strand has a ministry history that goes back to 1982. Since that time, he has served in local church ministry in a variety of ministry capacities: youth pastor, associate pastor of adult ministries and senior pastor. He is currently the EFCA's Executive Director of Theology and Credentialing. Greg reads voraciously and never stops learning — a passion reflected in the overflowing bookshelves that spill from his library to multiple offices. And he could tell you about each of those books! His hunger for learning pales in contrast to his great love for God and for teaching the Word of God.
